Mary Green

The Mary Green is a sweet treat that sneaks up on you. The complimentary mix between the savory muddled rosemary and sweet Midori makes this such a refreshing drink after a long day. For those of you who don’t know, Midori is a muskmelon-flavored liqueur. I’ve never heard of a muskmelon, but honeydew melons are cultivated from muskmelons, which explains why Midori reminds me of honeydews. I wouldn’t say that this is a versatile spirit to use due to its distinct taste, but I enjoy it best when it’s the main focus of a cocktail. The addition of honey also helps round out the sweet and slight tartness of Midori, but it does make it taste more like candy than a cocktail. Since there aren’t many ingredients in this recipe, I do recommend that you use a good vodka, so get that cheap stuff out of here! I never really used Midori before creating this cocktail, but I definitely will continue experimenting with it from now on, so I hope you enjoy this sweet treat.
Happy Tasting,
Steffon
Ingredients
- 3 oz vodka
- 3 oz Midori
- 2 Tsp honey or to taste
- A sprig of rosemary
- Fill whatever glass you're serving this in with ice or chill the glass.
- In a Boston Shaker, remove the leaves of the rosemary into the metal tin. Using a muddler, or some other equivalent tool, muddle the rosemary, but don't obliterate it because if you do it could make it taste a bit more bitter.
- Add some ice to the tin and the rest of the ingredients in with the rosemary.
- Top the tin with the other piece of the shaker, and shake for about 15 or 20 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into your glass with a fine mesh strainer, and enjoy.
